What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that websites can store on your device, such as a computer, tablet or mobile phone. They can be used to recognise your browser or device and remember information about your visit, such as preferences or previous choices.

Some cookies last only for the duration of your visit and are deleted when you close your browser. Others remain on your device for a set period or until they are deleted.

Websites can also use other technologies that store information on, or access information from, your device. These can include technologies such as pixels, tags, scripts and local storage. In this policy, we use the term “cookies and similar technologies” to describe these technologies collectively unless a distinction is necessary.

Why do we use cookies?

We use cookies and similar technologies on www.activehearthealth.com to:

  • provide essential website functionality and help keep the website secure;

  • remember your cookie consent choices;

  • remember certain website preferences, such as video-player settings;

  • understand how visitors find and use our website, where you have consented to Statistics technologies; and

  • help us improve our content, navigation, usability and website performance.

We do not currently use marketing cookies or advertising pixels on our website.

Where we use website statistics, the information helps us understand overall patterns in how visitors use Active Heart Health and improve the website and its content. Further details about the technologies used for these purposes are provided below.

Types of cookies and similar technologies we use

We use different types of cookies and similar technologies on our website. Some are necessary for the website to function, while others are optional and are used in accordance with the choices you make through our cookie banner.

The cookies and similar technologies currently detected on our website, including their provider, purpose and duration, are listed in the Cookie Declaration below.

1. Necessary cookies

Necessary cookies and similar technologies help the website function securely and correctly. They may be used for purposes such as:

  • providing core website functionality;

  • maintaining website security; and

  • remembering the cookie and privacy choices you make.

These technologies may operate without your consent where they are necessary for these purposes and permitted by applicable law.

2. Preference cookies

Preference cookies and similar technologies can remember choices that affect how parts of the website function for you.

Our website currently uses a Squarespace preference technology to remember selected video-player settings, such as volume, playback speed and quality, for videos uploaded directly to Squarespace.

Where consent is required for preference technologies, they are used in accordance with the choices you make through our cookie banner.

3. Statistics cookies

We use Google Analytics 4 to help us understand how visitors use our website. Google Analytics may be deployed through Google Tag Manager.

Statistics cookies and similar technologies may collect information such as:

  • pages visited;

  • time spent on pages;

  • browser and device information;

  • approximate location derived from IP address; and

  • how visitors arrive at and move through the website.

We use this information to understand website traffic and improve our content, navigation, usability and performance.

We currently require your consent before Google Analytics 4 is activated. You can accept or reject the Statistics category through our cookie banner and change your choice at any time through our Cookie settings.

4. Marketing cookies and technologies

Marketing cookies and similar technologies can be used to measure advertising, understand the effectiveness of advertising campaigns or track visitors for advertising purposes.

Active Heart Health does not currently use marketing cookies or advertising pixels on this website.

If our use of marketing technologies changes in future, we will update our cookie information and apply the appropriate consent requirements before using them.

Cookies and similar technologies currently in use

The table below is provided by Cookiebot and shows the cookies and similar technologies currently detected on our website, including their purpose, provider and duration.

Cookie consent

When you first visit our website, our Cookiebot banner allows you to accept, reject or customise the use of optional cookies and similar technologies.

Some technologies that are necessary for website security, consent management or core functionality may operate without your consent where permitted by applicable law.

UK law also allows certain other limited uses of cookies and similar technologies without prior consent where specific conditions are met. However, Active Heart Health currently requires your consent before Google Analytics 4 is activated for website statistics.

Where consent is required, the relevant technologies are not activated unless you make a positive choice to allow them. If you do not consent, or if you reject them, you can continue to use the website.

You can change or withdraw your cookie choices at any time using the Cookie settings option on the website, currently accessed through the black circular icon in the bottom-left corner of the screen.

Your current consent choices can also be viewed and changed through the Cookie Declaration above.

Rejecting or withdrawing consent for optional technologies may mean that some preferences or optional website features are not remembered, but it will not prevent you from accessing the main content of the website.

Affiliate links and third-party websites

Some pages on our website contain affiliate links to third-party retailers, including Amazon.

Affiliate links may contain identifiers that allow the retailer to recognise that a visit or qualifying purchase was referred by Active Heart Health. If a qualifying purchase is made, we may receive a commission from the retailer.

When you follow an affiliate link, you leave our website and enter a third-party website. The third party may use its own cookies or similar technologies and process information about your visit or purchase in accordance with its own privacy and cookie policies.

Depending on the affiliate programme, we may receive reports about referrals and qualifying purchases, such as clicks, products ordered or commission earned. We do not receive your payment card details or full customer account information simply because you use an affiliate link.

Cookies and similar technologies used by a third-party retailer on its own website are controlled by that third party and are not managed through the Active Heart Health Cookiebot settings.

We do not control the privacy or cookie practices of third-party websites. We encourage you to review the relevant retailer’s privacy and cookie information when you visit its website.

Managing cookies in your browser

In addition to using our Cookie settings, you can manage cookies through your web browser.

Most browsers allow you to:

  • view cookies stored on your device;

  • delete existing cookies;

  • block all or some cookies; and

  • change how your browser handles cookies from particular websites.

Browser settings vary between providers and devices. Further information about managing cookies can usually be found in your browser’s help or privacy settings.

Blocking or deleting cookies through your browser may affect saved preferences or the operation of some website features.

Third-party services and international transfers

We use third-party service providers to help operate our website and manage cookies and similar technologies. These currently include:

  • Squarespace, which provides website hosting and core website functionality;

  • Cookiebot by Usercentrics, which manages cookie consent choices and related consent information; and

  • Google, including Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics 4, which we use to manage website tags and, where you have provided the relevant consent, understand how our website is used.

Some personal data processed through these services may be transferred to or accessed from countries outside the United Kingdom or European Economic Area (EEA).

Where these services transfer personal data internationally, we take steps to ensure that an appropriate legal transfer mechanism or safeguard is in place where required by applicable data protection law.

Further information about the third parties we use and how international transfers of personal data are protected is provided in our Privacy Policy.

Changes to this Cookie Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes to our website, the cookies and similar technologies we use, or applicable law and regulatory guidance.

The latest version will be published on this page with an updated review date.

This Cookie Policy should be read together with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, store and protect personal data.

The Cookiebot controls described in this policy apply to cookies and similar technologies used on our website. Email campaign analytics operate separately from these website cookie controls. Further information about how we measure email delivery, opens, link clicks and unsubscribes is provided in our Privacy Policy.
